Finding Car Rentals for Seniors

Finding good rental car deals for able-bodied citizens is tough enough; what more if the customer is a senior citizen? Like it or not, seniors face some sort of discrimination when it comes to car rentals, as rental companies are afraid to risk having their vehicles damaged by an elderly driver on the road. Seniors may have to deal with the issue of age restriction when leasing a car in eEuropeand other vacation destinations. The task is not impossible, however, and there are rental companies that agree to lease their cars to elderly drivers. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Don't Wait Until the Last Minute

A lot of people, not just the elderly, have this habit of waiting till the last minute to do important stuff, something you should not do when looking for a good car rental. Searching for a rental company who has service for the elderly takes time; you have to get to know their policies then you have to negotiate and finalize the terms and rates. Giving it more will allow you to call up more rental companies and compare their monthly car rental terms and prices side by side. Don't just rely on sending them emails and waiting for their replies. This takes a lot of time and some rentals do not even bother to answer email inquiries. Better to call them and get instant answers to your questions.

 Make More Than One Reservation

You will find rental companies that do not require a deposit for reservations. Take advantage of this and make multiple reservations, which you can cancel when you find the better deal of the bunch. If you are unable to find the perfect terms you seek, then at least you have something acceptable as fallback.

 Check on Your Insurance

Your chances of getting a short-term or long term car rental are easier or bigger if you have your own insurance policy. Rental companies will feel more secure in letting you borrow a car if they can get coverage for their vehicle. Before making a reservation, call your insurance company and ask them details about your coverage so it will be easier to negotiate with the rentals.

 Watch Out for Special Promos

There are rental companies that offer special promos for senior citizens. They may also offer last minute deals. Call them up for faster negotiation so you can seal the deal right away.
